Building a Climate-Resilient Future: Rufus Giwa Poly and Ministry of Environment Partner for Progress
Ondo State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Tob Loko, has expressed the readiness of his ministry to partner with Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO) in advancing climate change initiatives and environmental sustainability.
The Commissioner stated this when he received the Acting Rector of RUGIPO, Mr. Adegun Olorunwa, in his office.
He described the institution’s plan to establish a Department of Climate Science as timely and commendable.
Dr. Loko emphasized that knowledge-driven institutions and partnerships are crucial to preparing the younger generation for the realities of climate change. He noted that such collaboration would foster research, policy formulation, and innovative solutions that will benefit Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
The Commissioner assured that his ministry will provide technical support in teaching, consultation, and departmental development to strengthen the proposed Climate Science department.
The commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to working with RUGIPO to ensure the initiative achieves its objectives of building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
Earlier, the Acting Rector of RUGIPO, Mr. Adegun Olorunwa while congratulating Dr. Loko in his appointment described him as a man fit for the job stressing that his experience would help in achieving Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s vision for the state.
Mr. Adegun further expressed willingness of RUGIPO in collaborating with the ministry of environment in advancing climate change initiaves.
