Asonja Commends President Tinubu for Entrusting Tompolo with Niger Delta Oil Pipeline Security
…Applauds Otuaro’s leadership and peacebuilding efforts
Senior High Chief Idowu Asonja, a prominent Niger Delta stakeholder, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in High Chief Government Oweizidei Thomas Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and his team in securing oil pipelines and critical oil assets across the Niger Delta region.
Chief Asonja said the decision to entrust Tompolo with the responsibility of protecting oil infrastructure has yielded significant results, particularly in the fight against crude oil theft and other criminal activities affecting the nation’s oil-producing communities.
According to him, crude oil production has witnessed a substantial increase since Tompolo assumed the responsibility of supporting the security of oil pipelines and facilities in the region.
He therefore urged President Tinubu to disregard what he described as “misguided criticisms” against Tompolo, stressing that those opposed to the initiative should not be allowed to undermine efforts aimed at protecting Nigeria’s vital economic assets.
Chief Asonja also cautioned against calls for the decentralisation of pipeline security arrangements, arguing that such agitations could be driven by personal interests rather than the broader interests of Nigeria and Nigerians.
He praised Tompolo for what he described as effective and efficient service delivery, while urging him and Tantita Security Services to remain proactive and intensify their efforts in safeguarding the nation’s oil infrastructure.
Asonja further noted that the activities of Tantita Security Services have contributed significantly to curbing crude oil theft and other criminal activities along the nation’s coastal areas, including kidnapping.
The Niger Delta stakeholder also commended Administrator of Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro for his leadership and commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the Niger Delta region.
He specifically applauded Otuaro’s approach to the administration of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, particularly the manner in which study scholarships and other educational opportunities are being distributed among beneficiaries across the nine Niger Delta states.
Chief Asonja urged Otuaro to sustain the momentum and continue to align his activities with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He stressed that sustained peace, youth empowerment, education and economic development remain essential to achieving lasting stability and prosperity in the Niger Delta.
Chief Asonja reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu’s administration and expressed confidence that stakeholders and people of the Niger Delta would continue to support the President’s leadership.
He assured the President of massive support and votes from the region in his bid for re-election, citing the administration’s efforts toward strengthening security, improving oil production and advancing development in the Niger Delta.
“The Niger Delta remains a critical component of Nigeria’s economic prosperity. We must therefore support individuals and institutions that are genuinely committed to protecting our oil assets, maintaining peace and creating opportunities for our people,” Asonja stated.
He called on all Niger Delta stakeholders to put aside personal interests and work collectively in support of initiatives that promote peace, security, economic growth and national development.
