“A goose that laid a golden egg shall never be forgotten. Revelation is the best teacher not experience”.
Virtually all the leaders from Ondo South Senatorial District in Ondo State across political parties have vowed to lobby delegates and electorates in the upcoming general elections to vote Hon. Sheba Abayomi for House of Representatives.
The leaders, who disclosed this recently while Hon. Sheba was on consultation tour of the South. The leaders advised him to run for House of Representatives to represent Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency at the green chamber and further convinced him to drop his Senatorial ambition.
“Go & run for Reps not Senate in any political party of your choice, we will give you maximum support as a consensus candidate both at the primary and general elections. Your unbeatable record of employment and empowerment for the youths and graduates have singled out for effective representation.
They said, “we would ensure that the project come to fruition as a consensus candidate for all the political parties in the South by convincing people who may wish to contest for the same position to step down”.
Abayomi Sheba hails from Ode Irele community in Irele Local Government area of Ondo State. He was the immediate past Acting Chairman of Federal Character Commissioner and also two-term member of the Commission representing Ondo State.
Hon. (Barr.) Sheba Abayomi is a grassroots politician and mobilizer. He was born to a prominent family – High Chief Emmanuel and Reverend Mother Esther Sheba in Ode Irele, Irele Local Government of Ondo State. He attended St. Andrew Primary School, United Grammar School, Ode Irele. For the purpose of advancement, he proceeded to University of Ilorin between 1985 and 1989 and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife between 1995 and 1997 with a Masters Degree in Public Administration. He also bagged Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko in 2011.
Sheba started competitive politics about 28years ago having contested the SDP primaries in 1992 to represent Irele Federal Constituency in the House of Reps. Meanwhile, he lost the election but he remained focus and resolute to liberate the people from the clutches of bad representation. Again, he contested and won the same election into green chamber in 1998 under UNCP but with Okitipupa L.G combined to form Okitipupa/Irele federal Constituency, the then Head of State, General Sani Abacha died and the whole process was cancelled.
Despite this set back, he never relented his effort. In 1998, he joined PDP and made the flag of the party to run for the same seat which he won excellently in spite of the onslaught of the AD in the south west zone then. As a matter of fact, he was the only elected member of the PDP to the House of Reps in 1999 from Ondo State.
No doubt, Hon. Sheba has track records of equitable and effective representation. He has always used a good symbol to symbolise his symbolic symbolism. He believes that what matters in life is how the value of your days be measured; he believes that what matters in life is not what you bought but what you built, not what you got but what you gave.
It is on record that Hon. Shaba had given federal employment to over 2,000 graduates from Ondo State as a member of Federal Character Commission.
