2023: Ondo South delegates and major stakeholders enumerate reasons why Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO) was unanimously endorsed as consensus senatorial candidate, say leadership is not about title but mantle
By Coastal Renaissance Reporter
The senatorial ambition of Mr. Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO) on Tuesday 22nd March, 2022, has received a boost as delegates and major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ondo South Senatorial District have endorsed him.
The delegates which comprises of all the party’s youth leaders, secretaries, women leaders, treasurers and other executives and major stakeholders of the APC declared their support for Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO) and affirmed their readiness to work for his emergence at the party primaries and general elections.
The endorsement of Mathew Oyerinmade by the delegates and major stakeholders came after one on one interactive session with them at Royal Bay Event Centre in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
At the meeting, all the six local governments of Ilaje, Okitipupa, Ese-Odo, Irele, Odigbo and Ileoluji-Okeigbo in Ondo South were in attendance.
Without any further ado, the delegates and major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Ondo South Senatorial District unanimously endorsed the aspiration of Mr. Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO) as the preferred candidate for the 2023 senatorial election.
In their remarks, the delegates and major stakeholders who spoke local government by local government described the contributions and achievements of Mr. Mathew Oyerinmade in the APC as unprecedented in the history of Ondo South, Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
While speaking, they consecutively listed some of the contributions and achievements of Mathew Oyerinmade in the party among whom are party members welfarism, refurbishment and equipment of all the six local government party secretariats in Ondo South, refurbishment and equipment of State party secretariat which was destroyed by End SARS protesters for almost two years, assistance to party members in terms of education, health and agriculture as the major areas where the Senator hopeful has performed creditably well, they however noted that MATO has not benefited anything from the party. They however challenged some of the aspirants who have benefited so much in the party in terms of appointive and elective positions to come out boldly and list their involvements and contributions to the party, even the party members.
“We have political appointees, we have Senator, we have members of the House of Representatives and State Assembly in the party, yet, known of them deemed it fit to renovate the state party secretariat for almost years the building had been destroyed by End SARS protesters even the local government party secretariats were abandoned without any patronage from them”.
Today, we thank God that MATO has been raised by God to put an end to the embarrassments facing APC, especially, in Ondo South. Even the so called opposition party, PDP had rebuilt a new state party secretariat in less than month of the End-SARS menace. It was a shameful situation for our party”. The leaders declared.
No doubt, God has used MATO to restore the lost glory of the party hence brought a new life to the party and party members, therefore, we will give him the maximum support he deserves. We will support him with all our strength to actualize his senatorial ambition. Frankly, we will give it all it takes”.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO), thanked GOD for giving him good people to surround him and assured them of good representation. He also promised not to disappoint them.
“With what I have seen and witnessed today, I vowed that I will not disappoint you. In fact, I am highly impressed with your commitment and determination. Therefore, I will serve you with all sense of humility and responsiveness”. MATO declared.
