2023: Oyinkansola Williams declares ambition for House of Assembly as Ifedore women beg Governor Akeredolu, APC leaders for woman’s slot in Ifedore LG
Ifedore women have trooped out two days ago and yesterday, 31st March, 2022 in Ipogun, Igbara-Oke and Ijare towns in Ifedore local government area of Ondo State in a solidarity support for the only woman aspirant in the Local government for the Ondo State House of Assembly in the forthcoming 2023 election, begged the Ondo State Governor and all the APC leaders in Ifedore local government to respect gender equality campaign promise.
The event which took place in the three zones of the Local government was well attended by the party faithful, especially from the women wings. Others who attended the event are leaders, elders, local government executives, ward executives and members of the party across the 10 wards of the local government.
While addressing, Mrs. Oyinkansola Williams, the only woman aspirant for the Ondo State House of Assembly race was showcased for the people. All the women in attendance knelt down to beg the party leaders to allow women represent Ifedore local government at the state assembly in the 2023 House of Assembly election.
It was gathered by Coastal Renaissance news that all the woman leaders from the 10 wards pleaded with the members of the party to give women opportunity to produce a representative for the state assembly.
The party Chairman in Ifedore local government, Mr. Tunde Fawoyi, expressed happiness over the move and assured the woman total support of the party members. He also encouraged the aspirant, Mrs. Oyinkansola Williams and the women folks to continue in their advocacy with unrelenting efforts.
“It is on record that no woman in the Local government has been elected into any elective position or being appointed into any state or federal executive councils since democracy has come to stay in Nigeria since 1999. Therefore, we will join you women to appeal to our leaders from Ifedore local government to give you chance this time around. We must learn from other local governments such as Okitipupa, Akure, Ilaje local governments who had allowed women to represent them at the state assembly”.
In the same vein, one of the members of the State Executive Committee, Mrs. Oluyemi Damilola, who also spoke at the declaration ground sort the support of the party leaders, executives and members of the party to ensure women are considered for the noble position.
In her words, Mrs. Oyinkansola Williams appreciated the Ondo State Governor, Arákùnrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, State Party Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin and other APC leaders in the state, and Ifedore local government, for their outstanding leadership strides to hold the party members together. She further assured the people of her abilities to deliver. She promised to be a good representative and give world-class representation to the people.
