Aiyetoro-Ilaje crisis: Wunmi Ilawole-led committee begins reconciliation meetings as stakeholders hail Governor Akeredolu for constituting unbiased committee members
Following the unrest crisis rocking Aiyetoro community in Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State, the Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, has constituted Reconciliation Committee headed by Dr. (Mrs.) Wunmi Ilawole, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science and Technology.
Coastal Renaissance news gathered that the crisis is centered on the unequaled distribution of Oil Spill Compensation Fund paid to the community by Mobile Company and leadership tussle.
Following the submission of all memorandum to the office of the Committee’s Chairman, Dr. (Mrs.) Wunmi Ilawole in Akure, the Committee members have begun reconciliation sitting on Thursday 13th March at Ilaje Local Government Secretariat and yesterday, Friday 14th March, 2023 went for physical inspection of the properties allegedly reported to have been destroyed in Aiyetoro community.
You would recall that the Committee Chairman had earlier called for memorandum from members of Aiyetoro Community and the General Public relating to these two issues of unequaled distribution of Oil Spill Compensation Fund paid to the community and Leadership tussle. Also, directed that all memorandum should be submitted to the office of the Chairman of Aiyetoro Reconciliation Committee, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ground floor, Room 13, Alagbaka, Akure and that all memorandum should be in soft and five (5) hard copies where Monday March 20th, 2023 was the deadline for submission.
While reacting to the actions and reactions of the committee members, the two factions have expressed satisfaction and reposed confidence on Dr. Wunmi Ilawole-led committee, stressing that the committee is impartial umpire.
Some critical stakeholders who spoke with our correspondence on condition of anonymity hailed Governor Akeredolu for constituting unbiased committee members while Rev’d Apostle Oye Asemudara described the committee members as impartial umpire.
