ANTI-VANDALISM: NASWDEN SETS TO REGISTER PRACTITIONER MEMBERS FOR PROPER IDENTIFICATION

Founding fathers of national association of scrap and waste dealers employers of Nigeria have resolved to conduct data capturing of every person that indulge in the profession for identification.

This development is borne out of the need to separate the original and authentic practitioners from criminal elements that disguised as scrap and waste dealers to steal and vandalism national assets across the nation.

In recent times, there is a wide believe that scrap and waste dealers are criminally minded because of the activities of some who move about as scrap dealers and steal properties of innocent people as well as vandalise government and public properties.

Speaking at the adhoc meeting of NASWDEN, the national chairman, Alhaji Lateef Sulaimon said the founding fathers and board of trustees of NASWDEN resolved to embark on data capturing exercise of the operational members to ensure criminals don’t have anywhere to hide under the banner of the profession.

Comrade Stephen lsobomuwa Obayuwana General Secretary Naswden/Administrative Head on his own part admonished scrap and waste dealers across Nigeria to be upright and do their legitimate business within the purview of the law and ensure every operators in and around them in their area of jurisdiction are captured in the registration exercise.

Also speaking at the meeting, a member of baord of trustees of NASWDEN, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Soja said enough is enough, those that are giving the profession bad names need to be fished out so the public can have better and helathy perspection about the profession.

Speaking further, Alhaji Soja said scrap and waste dealers is completely different from scavengers. He said scrap and waster dealers are law abiding citizens and well to do and who can never indulge in criminal activities.He warned anyone who hides under auspices of NASWDEN to perpetrate crime to desist because according to him, henceforth there will be no hiding place for them.

Also the deputy national board of trustees/ NASWDEN founding father, Comrade Edward l llah called on members of the public to notify naswden officials or the nearest police station anytime they found unidentified scrap and waste dealers in their communities saying there’s need for such synergy to ensure the measure put in place is effective.

The founding fathers of NASWDEN also called for robust synergy with security operatives especially Nigerian civil defence corps, NSCDC in combating vandals headlong anywhere in the country.

They vowed to deal decisively with any unregistered person caught going about as scrap and waste dealers anywhere in the country. And to achieve this, a special taskforce was set up go about across the country to ensure those that deal in
scrap and waste business are genuine and duly registered.
