COVID-19: ODIMAYO PUT SMILES ON FACES OF YOUTHS, VULNERABLE, DISTRIBUTES PALLIATIVES IN ONDO
In his bid to cushion the effect of the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic on the vulnerable and less privileged in the society, Governorship hopeful on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State, Prince Jimi Odimayo has commenced the distribution of thousands of tonnes of rice, garri, other food stuffs and cash gifts to young and old people in the State.
At the flags off of the palliatives distribution at Erusu-Akoko on Wednesday, Odimayo who personally handed over the food stuffs and cash to the crowd of beneficiaries, urged the people to have strong will and determination to fight the pandemic by keeping to all directives and health advises of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) and State Committee on Covid-19 to end the pandemic soon.
His words; “We are here today, not only to come and familiarises with you as foot Sojas of Jimi Odimayo 2020 Governorship Campaign in all the 203 wards of 18 local government areas of Ondo State, but to also extend some love to you in this trying period of global pandemic.
“Our people say ‘okun inu lama fi ngbe tita’ that literary means that you have to feed well before you go into the field to engage in campaign activities. That was why the campaign committee under the able leadership of Chief Bailey Aronmolase who also doubled as our campaign director-general, came up with the palliatives idea to help us in this critical period.
“I therefore, urge everyone of us on this project to devote our time and energy to work assiduously for the success and eventual win of both the July 20 APC primary poll and the Governorship election on October 10, 2020.”
The youthful businessman turned politician assured the people of proactive measures to tackle the post Covid-19 pandemic in Ondo State as elected governor come February 24, 2021, stressing that mechanized farming for production of sufficient foods for all classes of people is one of his 5-point agenda of good governance in the State.
He also promised massive employment for the youth in addition to qualitative and sustainable free education in both public primary and secondary schools, while the state owned tertiary institutions would enjoyed a reduced tuition fees from the exorbitant rate of over N200, 000 currently paid to N30,000.
The chairperson of the Jimi Odimayo Palliatives committee and former commissioner for Women Affairs in the State, Mrs. Yinka Alabi urged the young and old people in the state to return the good gestures of Odimayo with massive votes at both the primary and general elections.
Alabi noted that youthfulness and energetic nature of the aspirant are his selling points over and well above other aspirants, urging the youths to take the advantage for the first time in the state to vote one of their own as Governor of Ondo State.
The campaign tour of the Northern Senatorial District also took the team to Okeagbe wards 1, 3 and 4 and Erusu wards 2, 5 and 10 in Akoko North-West and Ikare in Akoko North- East local government areas of Ondo State.
