Fuel Subsidy Removal: Ilaje LG distributes palliatives to 12 wards

Following the flagg off distribution of palliatives by the State Government recently, Ilaje Local government has begun massive distribution to the 12 wards in the local government on Tuesday, 19th September, 2023.
While speaking to newsmen at the event, Ondo State Palliative Committee member for Ilaje Local government, Hon.Wunmi Fayemi Obayelu, Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Vice Chairman House Committee on OSOPADEC was on ground alongside other members to supervise the equitable distribution of the palliatives.
Among the palliatives distributed were 1,200 bags of rice, which were shared among the 12 wards in the local government.
It was an orderly gathering as ward leaders ensured that the beneficiaries duely took the commodities meant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal, which Ondo State government had painstakingly arranged for them.
Hon.Wunmi Fayemi Obayelu, member Ondo State House of Assembly while addressing Ilaje people, said, Ondo State Government is not ummindful of the hardship and challenge faced by the citizenry,hence the need for distribution of the palliative.
”The Committee members are here to represent Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN CON. We bring to you solidarity greetings from our ‘talk and do’ Governor and it is important that we understand that these palliatives are meant stricly for the vulnerable ones in Ilaje local government and we have put in place mechanism to ensure people who do not need the palliatives should do not take advantage of the poor.
”The Governor who has given the go ahead for this distribution is not leaving things to chances as other measures are also in the offing to reduce the prevailing economic hardship in the land.
”We urge that our people continue to remain orderly even as we assure you all that this distribution is based on mapped out strategy to ensure that our vulnerrable ones significantly benefit from the largess,” Hon. Fayemi added.
Some of the political leaders from Ilaje who were present at the event are Hon. Nimbe Tawose, Hon. Oluyide Mekuleyi, Hon. Gbenro Ogunfeyimi amongst others.
