Governor Aiyedatiwa Commissions Itebu-kunmi Oil Palm Community Project (OPCP) in Ilaje

In a bid to boost the economy of Ondo State, Governor Aiyedatiwa, has commissioned Itebu-kunmi Oil Palm Community Project (OPCP), initiated by the traditional ruler of the community, HRM Oba (Prof.) Aderibigbe Olomola, the Arapanata of Itebu-Kunmi kingdom in conjunction with the sons and daughters of the community.
The programme, which was held on 26th October, 2024 at Itebu-Kunmi community, the community monarch appreciated the governor of ondo state, His Excellency, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his commitment and dedication to move Ondo State from mono economy to multi-dimensional strides.
He noted that the economy of Ondo State is at risk if the state government concentrates only in building health center, town hall, constructing roads without investing in agriculture which is the bedrock of Nigeria’s economy, charging Ondo State Government to invest more in Agriculture in order to boost the economy of the state.
While rounding up his remark, Oba Olomola appreciated all the sons and daughters of Itebu-Kunmi, who have been working round the clock to ensure Itebu-Kunmi has its right place in the economy of Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
In his words, the Amapetu of Mahin Land, HRM Oba Segun Williams Akinyomi, thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for mitigating the concerns of the good people of Ondo State, calling on the Governor to invest more in agricultural produce by making use of the farm land in Ilaje Local Government, especially in Mahin land, stressing that Mahin Land has enough farm land to grow the economy of the state.
The programme also featured Masquerade cultural display and Itebu-kunmi female cultural dance
In his address, the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa who was represented by Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agro Business and Food Security, appreciated Oba Olomola for his innovative ideas and efforts to grow the economy of the state, pledged personal and government support to grow the investment.
While speaking, he noted that Ilaje Local Government has the best soil and farm land to grow cassava, palm tree, etc in Nigeria.
He confirmed that Ondo State government is making moves to begin a senatorial farm which may likely be located in Ilaje Local Government, stressing that the senatorial farm will require 2000hectares of land and stated that Common Wealth Woman Programme is coming to Ondo State soon, where about 10000hectares of land will be need to invest 200million dollars in agriculture.
He noted that agriculture is the best way to go for now.
Thereafter, Itebu-Kunmi Oil Palm Community Project (OPCP) was commissioned by the Governor of Ondo State who was represented by Hon Akinsola, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agro Business and food security.
