_…as it stands today, no LG Caretaker in Ondo State_
It is a natural phenomenon that you can’t build something on nothing! Before you build a house, you must lay the foundation, if you must be a University graduate, you must have gone through both elementary and secondary schools. Infact without these, you can’t proceed to a university. So is the case of the Caretaker Committee purportedly been set up by the ODSG. In law, it does exist at all.
1. The composition of the list defied all known rationalities and political ideologies. The emergence was unknown to most party leaders across the state.
2. The purpoted screening was done without a written notice from the governor who has been indisposed for months. In the Order Paper of the Assembly On the 28th November 2023, it read “Message from Mr. Governor “ which shows that Mr. Governor did not write any letter to that effect. Consequently, The event was in futility.
3. On the 30th November 2023, there was an injunction from the Ondo State High Court restraining the Government of Ondo from proceeding to swear-in the selected people. They were duly served!
4. The Deputy Governor who’s the Head of the Executive of the Government of Ondo State did not witness the so called swearing-in of the LG caretaker, the Attorney General of the State refused to take part. But the Speaker of the ODHA who screened the people was equally the one who supretended the swearing-in against all odds. The swearing-in had the SSG, Princess Oladunni Odu and Mr. Dare Aragbaye, SA on Union Matters. One would ask, what’s the interest of the S. A. On Union matters with the constitution of LG?
5. It is to be noted that the only one who has the executive power to swear-in LG Exco is the Governor or the Acting Governor or the Deputy Governor, if the Governor so directs without which such event will be null and void. The Deputy Governor and the Attorney General did not involve themselves, having been served with the Court order and knowing the reality.
6. There’s a supreme court judgement against composition of caretaker government in the LGs of Ondo State.
Going by the above, it is as good as there was no screening by ODHA and no swearing-in of LG Chairman and Vice Chairman because you cannot build something on nothing. The process from the beginning to the end was a nulity.
I want to use this medium to advice those involved (‘Chairmen and Vice Chairmen’) not to commit themselves financially or otherwise parade themselves, as the process that produce them was fraud. It is called abracadabra!
As it stands today, no LG Caretaker in Ondo State.
