A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Ilaje Constituency II, Hon. (Mrs.) Wunmi Fayemi-Obayelu, has pushed hard for the Ondo State Niger Delta women and youth at the just concluded stakeholders summit organised by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit, which took place at the Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre in the Rivers State capital from July 10-13, 2024, had in attendance all the critical and major stakeholders, including members of the National Assembly, Ministers from the region, traditional rulers and the private sector experts to discuss the Niger Delta.
The stakeholders’ summit, with the theme: “Renewed Hope for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta Region,” provided a platform for new ideas and strategies to fast-track development in the Niger Delta in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
At the Summit, the MAH representing Ilaje Constituency II, Hn. (Mrs.) Wunmi Fayemi-Obayelu, passionately advocated for the people of Ondo State, particularly the women and youth wings.
While speaking, she lamented the high level of marginalisation of the Ondo State women and youth in various empowerment and employment schemes of the NDDC, stressed on the need for the commission to include the Ondo State Niger Delta women and youth in her programmes and projects at all levels.
Without further ado, her demands were noted and included in the communique delivered to the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR ably represented by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.
The brilliant MHA, used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his good work in Ondo State, calling on the Governor to do more for the women, youth and people of Ondo State in general. And by so doing, history will have it that his tenure as the first Governor from the mandate area of Ondo state has brought direct impact, positive progress, and sustainable development to the people of the sunshine state. So that the people will joyously say, “indeed, we are LUCKY to have Lucky as our Governor in Ondo State.”
