MORAYO LEBI: A PILLAR OF POLITICAL RENAISSANCE IN THE FORMATION OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS IN ONDO STATE
_”The huge investment of Morayo Lebi in building the defunct AC, ACN which later metamorphosed to the APC must be remembered and rewarded by the APC leaders. Just like it’s written in the book of Ecclesiastes 11:1 KJV which says, “cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days”._
“I think it is pertinent we reflect on our yesterday, ponder our today and build hope for our tomorrow and the upcoming generations in remembering the hard labour and financial contributions of Barr. Morayo Lebi from Ondo State who among prominent leaders in Ondo State gave the progressive race a right place in the sun, hence solidified AC and ACN which later metamorphosed to the APC.
The vigorous and fervent campaign and mobilisation of Barr. Morayo Lebi in ensuring the progressives rescued power from the PDP members, especially, Ondo State who normally boasted that they would spend 60 years in power, was highly noticable and outstanding.
Following the political crinkle-crankle of the APC in Ondo State and Nigeria at large, I am bothered about the absence of a specific appointive or elective position made in honour or to compensate Barr. Morayo Lebi, the APC Ondo South Senatorial Candidate in the 2015 general elections who were among the few pioneers who brought progressive party, especially in Ondo South Senatorial District, Ondo State and Nigeria in general to a lime light.
Following the historical background, Barr. Morayo Lebi joined other pioneer leaders of the APC to invest heavily in the growth of the party without being considered for political positions whether appointive or elective, hence the need for all APC stakeholders both at the state and federal levels to show mercy towards him (Morayo Lebi) and consider him for better position in this new government having been robbed of the luxury of Senate seat by Akeredolu-led administration and a federal appointment by the Buhari-led administration.
For the sake of clarity, this piece is written after I was been inspired by the spirit of God at Great is the Lord Bible Church, Oda Town, Akure Ondo State, where I’m pastoring. People who are familiar with me, especially, those who know me very well, know what I stand for and irrespective of where I belong, I stand for fairness, justice and objectivity. I am ruled by the fear of God. No doubt, I have been generally acknowledged for these traits right from my childhood and God’s willing, I will maintain it to eternity.
Frankly speaking, God can bear me witness if I write the piece with the knowledge of Barr. Morayo Lebi, but rather inspired while in today’s Sunday service.
The people of Ondo State know that I am a great disciple of Prince Biyi Poroye, Executive Director Alpha 3D that I so much believe in his leadership style. The point I am making here is that, I am not Morayo Lebi’s follower rather his apostle, as a matter of fact, I had only met him once (unofficial) in my life.
I will be more fulfilled in my spirit if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu alongside other APC leaders can do something in this new administration and consider him (Morayo Lebi) for a juicy appointment as a way of compensation for his robust efforts in building the progressive party right from the AC, ACN and APC in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
It will be a great disservice and discouragement to this man of impregnable integrity and ingenuity, a man who has invested his time, energy and money for the upbringing of the progressive party to the present APC if his past and present efforts are not remembered and rewarded.
I was a member of the PDP but later joined the APC in the second term of Governor Akeredolu’s election. Ialso worked for Mr. Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO) in the last senatorial election. With this revelation, it should be clear to all and sundry that Barr. Morayo Lebi and myself are not in the same caucus but the truth must be told that this generous man, Morayo Lebi has suffered for the progress of the progressive party.
APC is formed to rescue Nigerians and their collective prosperity from the avarice and greed of an elite that will devour the nation’s God-given endowment but if we allow greedy people to occupy positions because of our selfish interest, at least, we should be expecting the APC to carry a heavy burden on her shoulder which will be detrimental to the future of the party.
“Barr. Morayo Lebi needs a result (appointment) that will cancel the insults of his long unyielding investment for the progressive party”
