NDYM National Body, Elders’ Council Dissolve Ondo State Executive, Appoint Caretaker Committee Ahead of December Election

In a decisive move aimed at restoring order, credibility, and unity within its Ondo State Chapter, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM), acting with the full consent of the Elders’ Council, has dissolved the chapter’s executive leadership led by Comrade Sylvester Omosebi.
The resolution, announced after a joint NEC–Elders’ Council meeting held on 22 November 2025, marks a significant intervention in what the national leadership described as a prolonged period of internal crisis, administrative irregularities, and eroded trust within the Ondo State structure.
According to the statement, the dissolution became unavoidable following the emergence of multiple interest blocs, a breakdown of neutrality in handling chapter affairs, and the inability of the outgoing executive to maintain cohesion among contending factions. The NEC further noted that the tenure of the dissolved executive had long elapsed, rendering its continued stay in office which is untenable and injurious to the democratic process.
To stabilize the chapter and prepare it for a smooth transition, the NEC announced the formation of a seven-man Caretaker Committee mandated strictly with administrative duties and the creation of a conducive environment for the next state election.
The committee members are: Mr. Edun Ogunbor – Chairman, Barr. Tonibor K. Tuobowei – Vice Chairman, Mr. Medoye Anfani Godwin – Secretary, Mr. Anthony Owoturo – Member, Mr. Orowole Blessing – Member, Mr. Timilehin Yagba – Member, Mr. Omoseye Smart – Member.
The NEC stressed that the Caretaker Committee will not conduct the election. Instead, an independent Electoral Committee appointed by the national leadership will oversee the Ondo State polls slated for 6th December, 2025.
All properties, documents, financial records, and materials belonging to NDYM currently held by the dissolved executive are to be handed over immediately to the Caretaker Committee. The national leadership warned that failure to comply would trigger disciplinary measures as outlined in NDYM’s national guidelines.
The NEC also declared that the resolution became effective from 22nd November, 2025 and will remain in force until a new executive is duly elected and inaugurated.
The move is expected to calm tensions, restore confidence, and lay the groundwork for what NDYM leaders describe as a ‘free, fair, and widely acceptable’ election, marking a fresh chapter for the Ondo State arm of the influential youth movement.
