As the race of the gubernatorial election in Ondo State is fast approaching, the current member of the House of Representatives representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency who is also a gubernatorial aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Kolade Akinjo, has boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has the capacity to unseat the incumbent Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state if the leadership of the party, PDP can rally round him.
He said, it is only a viable aspirant like him who carries a special anointing of God that can defeat government in power. He reiterated that he defeated the APC in the last general elections and that he’s still capable of doing that.
In his statement, he noted the PDP is more united than APC in the state and Nigeria at large. He further stated that the possibility of unseating an incumbent Governor is clear. Noting that there is a serious crisis in the APC and confirmed that the crisis can never be resolved.
“It’s obvious that the incumbent Governor in Ondo State does not care about his party members and the peoples in general. So, the major two factors that pave way for incumbency in winning election are lacking in the activities of the Governor. The electorates have perceived that things are not on the “right track” and that the Governor does not care about them. “An irresponsive government is less popular amongst the people”.
He then urged the PDP fold to take advantage of the crisis rocking APC at this critical time. “It is quite obvious that there is a vacuum in the leadership of APC in the state. The party has not been united since the primary election that brought Akeredolu to the power three years ago.
“It’s a leadership lapses for failing to bring people together. So, the PDP should take advantage of the disintegration in the APC to assume the seat of power come February 2021”.
He then call on the leadership of his party – PDP, to rally round him and secure the governorship ticket.
