A chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State, former Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) and former ACN gubernatorial aspirant in 2012, Dr. Lanre Atanlogun, fondly called Iginla, has described one of the famous and sellable gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile, as a real party man who has good intention of moving the party forward by running an all inclusive government if elected.
While addressing some party leaders recently in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Dr. Atanlogun, expressed his confidence on Prof. Faduyile, describing him as the only aspirant that can run an all inclusive government if elected. He opined that politics is one avenue for one to aspire for a public office with a view to serving the people. He added that everyone is free to support any aspirant of his/her choice in as much the person is convinced by the manifestos of that aspirant. He further explained that once a winner emerges in any contest, such person should ordinarily become the rallying point for the party as a whole and not exclusively for his/her team. He then accused the current administration in the State, led by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, of being biased and parochial in all his dealings. For the avoidance of doubt, he described the victory of Governor Akeredolu at the 2016 governorship poll as a product of a collective effort.
Dr. Atanlogun noted that the issue of factional team has brought the APC in the State to the state of anomy; thus, drastically reducing its popularity. He then posited that the party needs somebody like Prof. Faduyile to harmonize it ahead of the October 10 governorship election in the state.
In a related development, Dr. Atanlogun assured the party leadership that, if given the ticket of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial primary election scheduled for July 2nd, 2020, that Prof. Faduyile will not only restore the lost glory of the party but also ensure (by the time he becomes the Governor) that both the health and educational sectors of the State witnessed a new and robust development. He expressed his displeasure about the level of collapse that healthcare delivery services in the State continue has continually suffered in the three years of the current administration.
He declared: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing of an individual, not merely the absence of disease and infirmities. We must feel concerned with the state of health of our people. Government health sector has been turned to private sector in Ondo State It is so sardonic that patients are being detained in the hospital because of inability to pay their hospital bills; people are dying on daily basis because they don’t have access to good health facilities. This will be reviewed; our people must have access to good health facilities, enrolled into health insurance scheme and provided free healthcare.
Dr. Francis Adedayo Faduyile is the current President, Nigerian Medical Association, Chairman, MDCAN South West Caucus (2018-date), Chairman, MDCAN, LASUTH, Ikeja (2017-date), Chairman, NMA Committee on Baby Swapping at Osogbo (2014), Chairman, NMA, Lagos State (2012-2014), President, LUTH, NARD (2006), National PRO, NARD (2003-2004), among others. Therefore, he has the capacity and enough experience to manage successfully our health sector, Atanlogun submitted.
