Ondo Commissioner Nominee, Akogun Akinwunmi Sowore buries mother, Grace Olayemi Sowore in grandstyle

Burial ceremony of late Deaconess Grace Olayemi Sowore nee Odunjo held on Friday, 9th February, 2024 in Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government area of Ondo State, Nigeria.

Late Deaconess Grace Olayemi Sowore who was called to glory on 18th October, 2023 at the age of 93 years, buried on Friday, 9th February, 2024.

At about 9:45am, the corpse leaves for funeral service at Methodist Church, Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government area of Ondo State.

At the funeral, the deceased’s surviving children – Barr. Akinwunmi Sowore, Barr. Olabode Sowore, Mr. Olatunji Sowore and Mrs. Nike Asaolu are physically present at the church service.

In his homily, the Bishop of Igbobini Diocese, Methodist Church, the Most Revd. Dr. Olugbenga Fafeyiwa JP spoke on the topic, ‘the judgement day’. The bible passage was taken from the book of Revelation 20:12 – 15. While speaking, the lord Bishop Fafeyiwa charged the congregation to put God first in whatever they do, stressed that whatever a man sow, he shall reap. “If a man sow good things, he will reap good things and vice versa.

He further stated that a day is coming when God will judge everybody and judge everyone according to his or her work.

He said, “the judge I am referring to here is a judge who cannot compromise, a judge who cannot be bribed and a judge who is not biased in His judgement. He is going to judge us based on our works.”

He said, “Our gain in life is to do the will of God and be saved and that every human being should always strive to leave a worthy life full of honour, truthfulness coupled with the fear of God. He said, people should always we strive to lay a good legacy for the present and future generations.

Thereafter, processional hymn and song were rendered as a sign of last respect to the deceased, being one of the ministers in the church while alive.

The corpse was put to rest at the residence of her first surviving son, Barr. Akinwunmi Sowore in Kiribo.

At the reception, a renowned zionic musician who also doubles as King of Zion music, King Debo Ajimuda and his team were fully on ground, entertaining the guests.

At the reception ceremony which took place at Community High School playground in Kiribo, had in attendance some reputable Nigerians and high-profile personalities of traditional rulers, spiritual leaders, politicians, captain of industries, Public Servants, Professors, Doctors, Lawyers, including community dwellers who came to pay the last respect for the deceased.

Notably among the dignitaries were the Ondo State Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa; Hon. Segun Omojuwa, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ondo State; Pastor Kayode Ogundele, Head of Service, Ondo State; Justice Sehinde Kumuyi, former Chief Judge of Ondo State; Princess Sola Ebiseni; High Benjamin Olomidegun; Ambassador Sola Iji, Hon. Razaq Obe, Dr. Banji Ajaka; Hon. Olayato Aribo; Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan; Prince Joseph Ologbese; Mr. Williams Aiyedatiwa, Mr. Kenneth Odusola; Hon. Oluyide Mekuleyi and Mr. Omoyele Sowore.

Others were Hon. Nimbe Tawose; Hon. (Mrs.) Wunmi Obayelu-Fayemi, MHA representing Ilaje Constituency 2; Mr. Bayo Phillip; Comrade Odudu Ademola among others.

The deceased’s son, Barr. Olabode Sowore while speaking with Coastal Renaissance News, described his late mother as a special gift to humanity who lived a fulfilled life and made her home opened to everyone.

In the same vein, Barr. Akinwunmi Sowore, the deceased’s first surviving son while speaking with Coastal Renaissance News said that his late mother was an inspiring soul, always there for all who came to her with their troubles, stressed that his late mother was a very loving, humble, compassionate, understanding and family-oriented woman while alive.
