Ondo North West LCDA Boss, Onidare OSB visits UNIMED Ondo, gives financial succour to patients

The Chairman, Transition Committee, Ondo North West LCDA, Hon. Onidare Sunday Bukunmi (OSB), has visited the University of Medical Sciences, Teaching Hospital, Ondo (UNIMED) to give financial succour to patients. He also paid medical bills for patients on dialysis and other severe medical conditions.
This gesture was purposely to commemorate his birthday anniversary in line with the scheduled activities to celebrate his birthday, which will be held today, Saturday, 10th August, 2024.
The Chairman, who was accompanied by his team, was received by Dr. Akinbodewa Akinwunmi, Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), on behalf of the Hospital’s Management.
Hon. Onidare while speaking said that his visit was purposely to show gratitude to God for sparing his life to be a part of the joyous celebration of 2024 birthday, stressing that the gesture has become a usual habit during his birthday anniversary to identify with children, women, youths, and the less privileged people in the society, as this year edition presents him yet another opportunity even as Chairman of Ondo North West LCDA.
Dr. Akinbodewa while responding on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Gbala Michael, thanked the Council boss, and described the visit as a kind gesture and rare opportunity.
He further noted that the impact of the philanthropic gesture on the patients and hospital in general will go along way to mitigate the financial burden of the patients. He then appealed to other well-meaning individuals in the society to emulate the Hon. Onidare OSB by prioritising the welfare of the hospital patients and staff.
He however stated that a lot of patients are faced with dire financial needs, which has made it difficult for them to meet up with medications and adequate treatments. He also noted that some patients have been neglected by family members and are in need of urgent attention for discharge.
In his words, he stated the giant strides the hospital has made both in academics and health wise.
While embarking on patients inspection, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Akinbodewa led the Council boss and his team into the hospital wards which include: Radiological, Intensive Care Unit and Emergency, Nicu (Neo-Natal), Orthopaedic, Post Natal, Paediatric, Anti-Natal, Paediatric Surgery, Children Emergency, and the Male and Female Surgical.
While visiting the wards, Hon. Onidare OSB gave emotional and financial support to all the patients in each ward he visited and also paid for the medical bill of all the patients on dialysis and equally identified a few others who have overstayed at the hospital for immediate discharge.
Other members of the hospital management who received the Council boss were Chief Medical Director, Dr. Gbala Michael O; Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Dr Akinbodewa Akinwunmi; Director of Administration, Mr Esan-Titus Olaboboye; Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacist, Adegoke Adeyemi, amongst others.
