OSOPADEC Chairman, Poroye meets Ilaje-Aboto Water project contractor in Abuja, assures that Gov. Aiyedatiwa will address all their concerns & worries

The Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, on Monday, met with Mr. Alex Pan, South West Project Planning Manager of CGC Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the 2-million-gallon-per-day Aboto Water Treatment Plant, assured that the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon.(Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa will surely address all the challenges facing the contractor, including electricity supply.
During the meeting, Prince Poroye encouraged the contractor to expedite plans for returning to site to ensure the full resumption of operations.
The 2,000,000-gallon-per-day water treatment plant in Aboto, Ilaje Local Government Area, is a landmark achievement in the Commission’s efforts to provide safe and potable drinking water across Ilaje communities.
Speaking at the meeting, Prince Poroye emphasized that the era of persistent water scarcity, particularly in marginalized and underserved riverine communities in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas, is coming to an end.
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that treated water is reticulated throughout Ilaje, reaching even the most remote households.
Prince Poroye further disclosed plans to replicate the water treatment facility in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, thereby expanding access to clean water for more residents in the Niger Delta region of the State.
He expressed appreciation to CGC Nigeria Limited for constructing the state-of-the-art treatment plant in Aboto and commended PDG Menora for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the facility, which he noted has continued to improve the lives of the people.
In response, the Project Planning Manager of CGC, Mr. Alex Pan, assured the Chairman that the company is fully prepared to resume comprehensive water service delivery to the affected communities.
He explained that the current suspension of operations was solely due to persistent power supply challenges in the area, emphasizing that once these issues are resolved, CGC will promptly restore services to their optimal capacity without delay.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Power, Engr. Johnson Alabi, has assured residents in Aboto and the surrounding areas that electricity supply will be restored within the next few weeks. He emphasized that the government is fully committed to resolving the outage that has disrupted social and economic activities in the area.
According to him, relevant technical teams will be mobilized to identify and address the underlying issues, and all necessary resources will be deployed to expedite the restoration process.
Engr. Ibrahim Dashin, Project Coordinator at the CGC Nigeria Limited headquarters in Abuja, also joined in the discussions.
