The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, Elder Sam Erejuwa, has bagged Outstanding Leadership/Public Service Award.
The award was given in recognition of his passionate interest and contributions to the development of the coastal areas of Ondo State.
The event which was held on Sunday 30th April at the Blissworld Hotel, Ijapo, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria was themed “Moving Nigeria Forward: The Imperatives of Accountability and Transparency in Governance”.
Sam Erejuwa joined other eminent personalities who have distinguished themselves in private and public sectors to received various categories of Awards at the Annual Public Lecture/Award ceremony organised by the Sunshine Standard Magazine.
In his keynote address, the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON, represented by Yeyeoba Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Orientation applauded the event organiser for contributing to societal growth through its news reportage and unbiased analysis. He felicitated with the Awardees who have equally distinguished themselves for excellence in their endeavours.
Guest lecturer, Dr. Gbenga Abimbola, Head of Mass Communication Department, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko charged Nigerians to be actively involved in the task of making their leaders transparent and accountable as these help to reduce corruption and promote responsible governance.
According to the erudite scholar, it is not enough for the electorates to elect representatives into leadership positions, they should also make the government accountable for their actions, revenues and expenditures by asking them questions occasionally as accountability and transparency cannot be expunged from democratic governance.
Coastal Renaissance News gathered that Elder Sam Erejuwa was represented by Barrister Bayo Ololajulo, OSOPADEC Director of Administration and Supplies. Barr. Ololajulo while speaking on behalf of Elder Sam Erejuwa, appreciated God for the gift of life. He equally expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for giving him the opportunity to serve his people in his current official capacity.

He commended the Akeredolu’s Administration for demonstrating exemplary leadership expected from a truly democratic government.
According to Erejuwa, accountability and transparency are the hallmarks of the Akeredolu Administration. The citizens through their representatives in the legislative arm of government, labour leaders and key stakeholders are always carried along on government activities and allocations. He urged serving public servants and future ones to emulate this virtues.
Erejuwa further dedicated the award to the entire people of Ilaje and Ese-Odo who have remained responsible, calm, persevering and optimistic in spite of the daunting ecological hardship being encountered in their daily lives.
He assured that as the symbol of government in the mandate areas, OSOPADEC under his watch will continue to key into the REDEEMED Agenda of the current administration so as to improve the people’s lives and sustain their Environment.
Among the personalities who received various categories of merit awards were: Professor Emmanuel Ologunorisa (VC of OAUSTECH, Okitipupa), Professor Adesegun Fatusi, (VC, UNIMED, Ondo), Prince Diran Iyantan, (National Population Commission (NPC) Federal Commissioner representing Ondo State), High Chief Niyi Netufo, (Executive Director (South West), Rural Electrification Project, Abuja), Sir Charles Titiloye (Ondo State Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice), Hon. (Mrs) Folawe Sipasi-Aluko (Executive Chairman, Ese-Odo Local Government) and her counterparts from Akoko North West, Owo and Idanre Local Government Areas, and Captains of Industries.
