Tussle Over Tenure expiration: Union leaders, Olawale, Aderinkoye issue a 7-day ultimatum to OSDPC General Manager, Nasiru Oseni to vacate office
The Chairman of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), Ondo State Development and Property Corporation (OSDPC), Comrade Olawale Adelana and Chairman of Nigerian Civil Service Union
(NCSU), OSDPC, Comrade Olu Aderinkoye have given a 7-day ultimatum to the General Manager of the Corporation, Mr. Nasiru Sunny Oseni to vacate his office upon the expiration of his tenure as the General Manager of OSDPC, Ondo State.
The 7 days ultimatum was made while speaking with our correspondent on Monday 8th January, 2024 in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State, stressed that the ultimatum day starts counting as from Tuesday 9th January.
According to the union leaders, the ultimatum was given due to the failure of Mr. Sunny Oseni to resign voluntarily as General Manager of the Corporation upon the expiration of his tenure in office and following the memo written by him (Oseni) on 20th August, 2019, requesting for legal advice on the procedure for the determination of the appointment of the Corporation’s General Manager.
It would be recalled that Mr. Nasiru Sunny Oseni wrote a memo in September 2019 to displaced his predecessor, Mr. O.O. Sawe from office as the General Manager of the Corporation and assumed office on 24th September, 2019.
In his memo, Mr. Oseni claimed that his predecessor (Sawe) had spent 4 years in office as General Manager of OSDPC and that his tenure in office had expired. And, upon his memo, he was appointed in September 2019 as the General Manager of the Corporation, which tenure expired in September 2023.
In recent letter jointly written and signed by the union leaders, Comrade Olawale Adelana and Comrade Olu Aderinkoye, made available to Coastal Renaissance News reads thus:
*IT IS TIME TO LEAVE*
“You will recall that the immediate past General Manager of the Corporation in
person of Mr. Olubode Sawe left his position on 15th September, 2019; based on your memo and advice to the immediate past Board of the Corporation where you articulated the position of the Corporation’s Law (Your memo is
attached). Since that period, that is 2019, you have been at the helms of affairs
of the Corporation as the General Manager.
Having been at the saddled since that period, it is however regrettable that
you have not added any meaningful value to the service delivery of the Corporation and the staff. Having been a management staff in the corporation for the past 25 years, you have failed to learn throughout the period.
“It is a matter of deep feelings to mention that the Corporation under your headship has not accessed its capital votes for the past four years. This has greatly affected the mandate delivery of the Corporation.
You sold the Corporation’s house (Terrace duplex) at Ilekun estate that worth the sum of N20m for N4.5m under your watch as the General Manager. When you are in the position to advise that the property should not be sold below the construction cost.
The Corporation’s block factory that worth about N20million has been
grounded due to your high handedness as the General Manager.
There has been a failure of leadership in the Corporation as evidenced in your
inability to properly supervise, harness and motivate and ensure that the
management staff who report to you perform their duties in line with the
mandate of the Corporation and no cohesion between you the management
staff and the entire staff. You fight with all your HODs all the time.
“The Corporation has been witnessing serious infrastructural decay, internal
bickering and loss of value and confidence by members of the public resulting
from improper dealings in land under your supervision. You have failed to add any Value to the Corporation but you have been collaborating with your proxies to swindle it. The land you sold recently through proxy is opened to the public and we have proven at our disposal to this claim which at
appropriate timę ICPC and EFCC shall be notified.
Your fixed mind has made you toxic for any change if not so, the training you
undergone at Kuru, Jos should have impacted on you. Your absenteeism from office is second to none under the guise of ill health; apparently this
presupposes that you are not fit to continue. Your recent fist cuff with one of
your Hods on a gift of salt has ridiculed you. Worst still, your maximum period
at the office is 40minutes.
After your AWOL for almost 30 days, you came back claiming to be a born
again in the presence of your wife but this has not reflected in your actions.
Your stay as the General Manager can no longer be guaranteed, it is time to leave.”
