Why Sunday Omogbemi remains Ilaje APC’s best Chairmanship Aspirant – Peter Omoboye
What matters in life is not what you get but what give, not what you buy but what you build, not what you acquire but the sacrifice you make to improve the betterment of the people and the development and growth of your environment.
We have discovered a man who had impacted, a man who had given, a man who had built and a man who had sacrificed and who is still ready to do more for the people and development of his fatherland in person of Hon. Tony Olabode Sunday Omogbemi a.k.a Inspector.
Hon. Omogbemi is from a very humble background, a visionary and sedulous man, a grassroot mobiliser and a young man who is generally acknowledged for good reputation. As a generous man, he had affected and still affecting a lot of lives within and outside Ilaje Local Government, and as a true son of Aiyetoro community in Ilaje Local Government of Ondo State, he has done a lot for his community and coastal areas of Ondo State.
Since university days, Hon. Omogbemi has been providing emotional succour, physical companion and rendering needed assistance for the development of Ilaje land. As one of the Students’ Union Leaders from Ilaje, he joined others student leaders to dialogue with government in the local, state and federal levels to collect bursary on behalf of all the students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This activity made him to be popular and generally accepted and celebrated by all the students across Nigeria.
Also, as Special Assistant to the then Governor of Ondo State on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Omogbemi made remarkable sacrifice and effective representation for the rapid development of the Niger Delta areas, he made Ilaje got the compassion and patronage we actually needed from state government; and fought for the modern Niger Delta areas from moulder to a greater Ilaje land.
As a politician who had managed the youths and affairs of the Niger Delta successful as Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Omogbemi will know more about the workings of the Local Government system better than any aspirant.
Omogbemi who is familiar with the terrain and Niger Delta people, knows that Local Government as the third tier of government closest to local people as well as traditional institutions, has the wherewithal to tackle insecurity, stimulate the local economy and reduce poverty.
Hon. Omogbemi, having served successful with past state governments, understands better that democracy requires public participation and community engagement to engender a government “of the people, by the people, for the people.” He has deep knowledge that Local government has a responsibility to engage their community members in a robust and equitable manner in order to effectively carry out the key functions of government at the local level. He knows that a number of strategies can be used to build more effective community engagement and public participation - particularly of groups who are traditionally left out.
Hon. Omogbemi as Special Assistant to former Governor of Ondo State on Youth Affairs, he trained and grown Ilaje Youths and Ex-militants on the need to embrace peace and tranquility in their day-to-day activities. He promoted peace among them and established round table dialogue with government in getting whatever belongs to them. This consequently promoted and guaranteed security in Ilaje land as at then was.
Omogbemi’s existing relationship with the oil companies as former Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Niger Delta Affairs will foster Ilaje economy and increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
I present to you, a generous and caring heart, a man of honour and unquestionable character; a man of principle, a courageous man, a God-fearing personality, the hope of our generation and generations yet unborn, an imitable of Awoism, a replica of Ajasinism and above all, a man of impregnable integrity and ingenuity, HON. TONY OLABODE SUNDAY OMOGBEMI as the next Chairman of Ilaje Local Government.
*Comrade Peter Omoboye (D-Law)*
