World Teachers’ Day: OSOPADEC Chairman, Erejuwa commends commission’s teachers dedication to service, describes teachers as God’s representatives of nation builders
OSOPADEC Chairman, Elder Sam Erejuwa, has hailed Commission’s teachers dedication to service while describing Teachers as God’s representatives of Nation Builders, whose selfless sacrifices to societal development cannot be underestimated.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Agency’s Chairman in commemoration of this year’s World Teachers Day.
While congratulating teachers across the world on the anniversary, Erejuwa particularly appreciated Staff of the Commission deployed to public schools in the mandate areas to augment their counterparts from Ondo State Teaching Service Commission by executing their duties with great passion.
In his words; “I congratulate teachers all over the world, particularly our teachers in Ilaje and Ese-Odo, and by extension those in Ondo State and Nigeria at large on the occasion of the Year 2023 World Teachers Day. Unequivocally, teachers are God’s representatives, with Divine assignment to raise leaders and to build our Society. They are parents, mentors and coaches. The development and transformation of every nation therefore rest on their shoulders”.
Erejuwa lauded the OSOPADEC Teachers for being responsible and for putting in their best performances in schools across Ilaje and Ese-Odo in spite of the ecological hardship and challenges faced in the course of carrying out their duties.
While urging the tutors not to be discouraged, Erejuwa assured that the Commission have them in its plans and efforts are ongoing to ameliorate their plights.
“To the staff of our Commission (OSOPADEC) deployed to serve as teachers across public schools in our mandate areas; we celebrate you on this great day. We recognize your great inputs and we say the Commission is very proud of you.
“In the past, some people concluded that ‘the reward of teachers is in heaven’. But I can authoritatively tell you this assumption is erroneous. During your lifetime, you will surely reap the rewards of your labour and service to humanity.
“From your various places of primary assignments, we have received news of your commendable attitudes to work, positive dispositions, diligence, commitment and exhibition of sterling qualities. You are indeed agents of transformation and reformation.
“We are not unaware of the ecological challenges caused by the peculiarity of our communities, being a coastal terrain. But I urge you not to be discouraged. We have intensified our partnership with governmental agencies and international bodies for rescue.
“We have plans to train and equip you (our teachers) with contemporary teaching skills, to renovate and equip our schools, provide toilets, water and other facilities amongst others.
“Just recently, I received the report of the Commission’s Palliative Committee which has been critically perused for quick implementation. I can assure you that in the coming days, you are going to smile.
“Again, I felicitate you as you join your colleagues across the world to celebrate this historic day. Continue to be good Ambassadors of the Commission”.
October 5 of every year is globally set aside to recognize and honor teachers for their contributions to education. The maiden edition of the event was held on October 5, 1994.
