Association Indiscipline: Governor Akeredolu bans tipper drivers in Ondo over exorbitant price of sharp sand from N25,000 to N60,000
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has banned the activities of members of the Association of Tippers and Quarry Owners of Nigeria in Ondo State over recent exorbitant price of sharp sand from N25,000 to N60,000
The Governor made this ban at a press conference addressed by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale.
Hon. Odebowale while speaking condemned in totality the high rate of increment in the sharp sand by the dealers in Ondo State. He said, Ondo State government would not allow any association to extort the people of the state.
You would recall that the members of the association have recently increased the price of sharp sand from N25,000 to N60,000 per load. However, Odebowale had directed the sharp sand dealers to revert to the old price or be ready to leave the state.
He said, ”Ondo State Government will no longer condone any act of indiscipline among associations in the state and reiterate that the government will not hesitate to arrest any erring members.
“Governor Akeredolu will not allow the sharp sand dealers to extort money from members of the public and make things difficult for the people”
Odebowale added that one of the responsibilities of the government is to discourage any form of hardship on the people.
