HOODLUM INVASION OF OSOPADEC PREMISES: CHAIRMAN OSOPADEC AUPCTRE, ADEMUWAGUN CALLS FOR PROTECTION, SAFETY OF MEMBERS

The Leadership of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), OSOPADEC Chapter hereby condemns in strong terms the invasion of the premises of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) by suspected hoodlums on Wednesday 22nd November 2023 and the attempt to disrupt the flag off of the payment of the 2022/2023 bursary and scholarship award to Ilaje and Ese-Odo students in the Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
2. News reports later surfaced on social media, online news platforms, online blogs, and different social media platforms claiming the suspected hoodlums who invaded the premises of the Commission brutally attacked one Mr. Kehinde Akinrotoye, a Commissioner on the Board of the Commission.
3. It should however be noted that the news reports were fallacious as those who physically witnessed the ugly incident can attest to the fact that Mr. Kehinde Akinrotoye personally led the hoodlums to the Commission’s premises intending to truncate the process for reasons best known to him.
4. We commend the security personnel on the ground for their quick response and for restoring peace and tranquility to the Commission as this timely intervention contributed to the eventual success of the program and the safety of our staff, including the invited guests.
5. However, the Union wishes to state unequivocally that this act is unacceptable and a repeat of such imbroglio would never be condoned. For the records, the entire workforce of the Commission are dedicated, committed, purposeful, industrious, and peace-loving; exhibiting sterling and professional qualities while performing their official duties at the Commission’s Head Office (Oba-Ile), the Area Office (Igbokoda) as well as schools and health institutions across Ilaje and Ese-Odo LGAs.
6. The security and safety of our staff will always be our priority. Consequently, acts by individuals and groups capable of truncating the existing tranquility in the polity thereby making it unsafe for our members shall never be tolerated.
