INSECURITY: POROYE DENOUNCES THE KILLING OF OLUFON OF IFON AND ABDUCTION OF WIFE OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE ONDO STATE GOVERNOR
The Chairman of Emerging Political Platform, EPP in Ondo State and a chieftain of the APC, Prince Poroye Biyi Bill, has called on the people of the state to be security conscious and join hands with the Nigerian Police Force, other security agencies and the government of Ondo State under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu to fight the insecurities bedeviling the state after the ENDSARS protest.
Prince Biyi said this at the monthly stakeholders’ meeting of EPP which held on 27th November, 2020 at the platform’s secretariat.
In his words, “It is no longer news that the spate of banditry, violence, killing and wanton destruction of lives and properties has increased in Nigeria and Ondo State in particular in the last few weeks. The most recent is the killing of the Olufon of Ifon by unknown gunmen around Elegbeka and the kidnapping of wife of Chief of Staff to the Governor”.
“This dastardly act which is not only strange to us in Ondo State but also enemical to the development of the Oil rich state need to be checked before it becomes bigger than we can handle.
He charges the governor to without further delay call for a security summit involving all community heads, Obas, chairmen of landlord associations, Youth organizations, security agencies and other stakeholders. The summit should be geared towards the review of the security architecture of the state.
Poroye also called on heads of all security agencies to be more proactive rather than been responsive to security issues. He said security issues should be taken more seriously by all security agencies.
He condoles with the people of Ifon on the demise of their royal father. He also prayed for the safe return of the wife of Chief of Staff to the Governor.
