Ministry of Niger Delta: Former SA to erstwhile Governor of Ondo State, Sunday Menukuro blasts Tayo Alasoadura, says he adds no value to Buhari-led administration, calls for his immediate removal as a Minister
“…No single impact of Alasoadura is felt in the mandate areas & Ondo State. Alasoadura should learn from Bunmi Tunji-Ojo’s achievements despite the fact that Tunji-Ojo is not the Chairman of NDDC, but used his influence as Chairman House Committee on NDDC to turn things around in Ondo State”.
The Spacial Assistance to the erstwhile Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, on Social Media and current Coordinator of the Unpaid Amnesty Students from the Niger Delta region, Comrade Sunday Menukuro, has blasted the Minister of State on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura for his incompetency and lack of value to the administration of Buhari-led government.
Comrade Sunday Menukuro stated this recently in a press statement made available to the pressmen titled: “Ministry of Niger Delta and the neglect of Ilaje and Ese Odo local governments”.
Comrade Menukuro noted that no single meaningful programme or empowerment or employment or engagement has been done by the Minister since President Buhari had appointed him as a Minister of State on Niger Delta Affairs. Menukuro further for his immediate removal by President Buhari, threatened that President Buhari will receive a heavy protest in Abuja if he refuses to disengage him (Alasoadura).
He said: “The issue of NDDC has generated alot of furore about its lacklustre performance in Ondo state especially in the mandate areas.
As a matter of fact, few projects have been seen in some areas. Information at my disposal is to the effect that some of the House of Representatives members from Ondo state were the ones who influenced the execution of the projects most of which had been abandoned hitherto”.
“All these issues are about NDDC, the most disturbing thing is that nothing has been heard or done about the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Minister is from Ondo state in person of Senator Tayo Alasoadura”.
“Whatever anyone may have had against the person of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), the fact remains that things have improved under him as Chairman House Committee on NDDC even when he is not the MD or Chairman of the Commission who is saddled with the responsibility of governing the affairs of the office. It must be noted that I don’t have any close relationship with Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, more so that I am a PDP member to the core but the truth must be told that the man (Tunji-Ojo) has done his best”.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Senator Tayo Alasoadura in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as if Ondo state people especially Ilaje and Ese Odo people are not having any stake in the activities of the office”.
“The only time I heard of anything about the activity of the ministry in Ondo state was last year or so when they had a seminar in Ibadan where the participants of about one thousand were lodged in hotels for two weeks. I did not know any Ilaje or Ese Odo person who partook in the seminar even when the programme did not succeed meaningful”.
“My worry and concern is that no single meaningful project or impact is felt in Ondo state where we have an indigene of the state as a Minister of State on Niger Delta Affairs, in person of Senator Tayo Alasoadura and nobody is saying anything about it”.
“Ministry of Niger Delta affairs which Senator Alasoadura is a minister was created for the Niger Delta areas and if we are not feeling any positive impact, questions must be asked and call for his immediate removal by the President”.
“I therefore urge the traditional rulers, religious leaders, ex-militants, NDYM, Youths and GPBI and Coalition of Groups led by Prince Poroye Biyi Bill with their intentions to bring light and development to the state. I also charged other formidable associations or groups from the Niger Delta areas of Ondo State to rise and resist the deliberate attempt of Senator Tayo Alasoadura to underdevelop the mandate areas because of his selfish interest”.
