Senior High Chief (SHC) Idowu Asonja, Ondo State All Progressives Congress Chieftain, has facilitated the release of ten inmates from various correctional centres across the state, reaffirming his commitment to compassion, justice, and social reintegration.
The intervention followed constructive engagements with correctional authorities and the diligent application of due legal processes. Beneficiaries of the initiative included inmates held for minor offences, those who had exceeded their lawful detention period, and individuals eligible for release but constrained by financial limitations.
Speaking on the initiative, SHC Asonja explained that the gesture was driven by his strong belief in welfarism, human dignity, and the importance of offering individuals a second chance to rebuild their lives. He emphasized that correctional centres should not only serve punitive purposes but also function as platforms for rehabilitation and positive transformation.
