Following the unrest crisis between Russia and Ukraine, Ondo State Commissioner for Regional Integration
& Diaspora Relations, Prince Boye Ologbese, has presented areas of business
opportunities available in Ondo state to Nigerians in Diaspora.
The Commissioner made this presentation yesterday, Wednesday 25th January, 2023 at Montana Cubana, 15 Isaac John St, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos where the
NIDOE-Russia and a group of Nigerian entrepreneurs in Russia organized a business sensitization gathering, tagged “Meet & Connect Business Gala-Night”.
The ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine has posed serious threat to the lives and properties of Nigerians in the areas. The Russia’s
economic and business environment has been challenged. And, many Nigerian-diaspora-owned businesses and investments are niw feeling the consequences of this crisis negatively.
With the aim of moving Nigeria economy forward, Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Europe, Russian Chapter (NIDOE-Russia) has been organizing
numerous fora to sensitize and encourage their members and indeed Nigerians diaspora
community, who are doing businesses in Russia or planning to go into businesses, to diversify their businesses and to look towards Nigeria for such opportunities.
The ultimate mission of the event is to gather and pitch representatives of government and private businesses in Nigeria, with those potential investors from diaspora Nigerians in Russia, who are
willing and ready to invest substantial amount of their money currently lying fallow.
This type of sensitization is in
line with the mission of NIDO to harness, galvanize and harmonize the financial and human
resources of diaspora Nigerians towards homeland development.
The Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Prince Boye Ologbese who was invited as special guest while addressing the gathering said “there is no security threat for any industrial company in Ondo State”.
He then encouraged Nigerians in Diaspora to come to Ondo State and establish any industry of their choice.
According to him, “Nigerians need to first establish industries in Nigeria to grow its economy and when talking about investment opportunities in Nigeria now, Ondo State is the area of focus because of the natural resources available in the area”.
“Ondo State is saved for any kind of investment because of the transformation agenda put in place by Governor Akeredolu to protect lives and properties of the citizenry”.
“The Nigerians in Diaspora can invest in the area of gas, now that technology is fast moving ahead of crude oil, and now that government is working on the conversion of Petrol vehicles to gas vehicles”.
“Ondo State also has bitumen project, silicon sand for glass making and granite factories, all these are available for you to invest in. And, now that the Federal Government has set up a Technical Committee to look into Ondo Deep Sea Port, Nigerians in Diaspora can as well keen into this investment opportunity”.
“For instance, we have some Indian companies in Ondo State which are doing excellently well with good profit margin”.
“Frankly, Governor Akeredolu is changing the narrative of Ondo State from civil servants state to multi-dimensional driven state, hence led to the creation of tourism centres by the state government and even individuals”.
“Diaspora City where we have 24 hours electricity, security and other social amenities is the priority of Mr. Governor. The Governor has set aside enough land for that purpose”.
The Commissioner finally discouraged Nigerians in Diaspora to drop their preference for foreign investment and charged them to embrace Nigeria-based investment, stressing that Ondo State investment is saved in growing the nation’s economy faster”.
The event was well attended by the private sector, media, government agencies and non-governmental agencies, embassies, and others organizations.
