An Oil Guru and Consultant to the Domestic Refinery owners’ Association of Nigeria, Jule Samuelson, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to give accelerated approval to the proposal of the Domestic Refinery Owners’ Association who is requesting for the establishment of Modular Refinery in each of the Niger Delta States – Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, Rivers.
Speaking to the Journalists after a stakeholders’ meeting held recently in Abuja, the consultant reiterated that the establishment of Modular Refinery is what Nigerians have been waiting for in order to put an end to the immnient catastrophy of the Niger Delta Region of the country.
In his statement, Samuelson maintained that Modular Refinery is the only solution Nigeria has been waiting for. He further noted that if the Association is given accelerated approval by the President, to establish modular refineries, most problems in the Niger Delta Region will be off because the boys will leave the creeks and there will be no more pollution and tension in the areas. Moreover, the economy of the country will receive positive turn around.
“According to him, “if the Government can consent to the request of this association and give approval for the establishment of Modular Refinery, it will go a long way in building up our economy and sustain it effectively.
He however noted that the approach of the Federal Government overtimes to stop illegal refinery has not yielded any meaningful and sustainable results.
“This time around, the people have come together to proffer a lasting solution to illegal Refineries helping the Federal government to stop what they have not been able to stop for years. No doubt, the Government has tried her best to stop the illegal process, but it is very obvious that they are taking the wrong approach. But now, some of the boys have voluntarily stopped illegal refineries, left the creeks and came together to form the Domestic Refinery Owners’ Association of Nigeria and be the pride of this nation. Therefore, the Government should encourage their visions for the betterment of our nation”.
“It should be noted that the proposal of DROAN is laudable and unique which a reasonable government will consent to without any further ado because they have helped the government to solve the accumulated problems of the distortion of Oil pipelines.
“Frankly, if the creek boys are locally empowered by the Federal Government, they will be productive and satisfy Nigerians. When you give them Modular Refineries they will use the same energy they have been using to produce the locally refined products to produce for the Federal Government and make the products available at cheaper rates. So, the country does not need to import fuel anymore because we will be self sufficient, and when we are self sufficient, we will no longer factor in the dollar price and the products will be cheaper and Nigerians will be happy”. Said Samuelson.
