BOOK REVIEW: EPITOME OF GOD’S GRACE, THE BIOGRAPHY OF BISHOP FREDRICK IDOWU OLUGBEMI
I want to stand on the existing protocol because of time constraint. However, I must give glory to God, the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son and Holy Spirit for availing the knowledge of His will to write the book.
My special appreciation goes to Rt. Rev’d Fredrick Idowu Olugbemi, the lord Bishop of Ilaje Diocese, Anglican Communion and his wife, Mama Ilaje for the leave so graciously granted to write the book. I pray that God will continue to single you out for uncommon favour as you retire but not tired today in Jesus name. Amen.
I will not but also appreciate my leader and mentor, the Chancellor of Ilaje Diocese, Anglican Communion, Chief (Barr.) Sola Ebiseni for his mentorship stride.
This review will lack a fundamental lacuna if I refuse to acknowledge the efforts of Chief Bayo Emuleomo and Evag. Banjo Ikuenogbon (Bafana Bafana), the Chairman and Secretary of the Planning Committee, respectively, and other committee members in ensuring the book is published.
The title of the book is – “Epitome of God’s grace”, the biography of Bishop Fredrick Idowu Olugbemi, the lord Bishop of Ilaje Diocese, Anglican Communion.
The book is authored by Taiwo Ilesanmi Gbamila, Publisher of Coastal Renaissance news and published by Igbamila publishing company.
The book has 160 pages divided into seven chapters. The book is dedicated to Jesus Christ – The Author and Finisher of our faith while the Foreword is written by Rt. Rev’d Ezekiel Bolarinde Dahunsi, the retired Bishop of Idoani Anglican Diocese.
In summary, the book gives a brief account of historical background, education and teaching career, and ministerial activities of Bishop Olugbemi. But beyond that, the summary of his Episcopal charges are captured in the book.
Bishop Olugbemi, a renowned school teacher, a courteous school football coach and devoted man of God left his teaching vocation mainly to embrace God’s work. He combined the teaching profession with ministerial assignment without failing in any of these responsibilities. He believes that man must discipline himself in all things.
Chapter 1 of the book talks about the lineage of Bishop Olugbemi.
Chapter 2 explains the early life of Bishop Olugbemi and his quest for knowledge.
Chapter 3 captures the activities of Bishop Olugbemi as a consummate teacher.
Chapter 4 gives account details of Bishop Olugbemi’s ministerial activities in the vineyard of God.
Chapter 5 showcases Bishop Olugbemi’s home front, i.e his wife, Children and biological brothers and sisters.
Chapter 6 enumerates summary of Bishop Olugbemi’s Episcopal charges delivered at various synods between 2009 and 2022.
Chapter 7 which is the concluding chapter captures the goodwill messages by well wishers. Also contains in the chapter is photo gallery of the Bishop.
I will leave you with the word of the wisdom which says, perspire to acquire what you desire to admire, don’t retire but refire to acquire the admired desire.
