COMPLETION OF THE NDDC NEW SECRETARIAT HEADQUARTERS: POROYE BIYI EULOGIZES SENATOR AKPABIO’S COMMITMENT TO REPOSITION THE NIGER DELTA REGION FOR RAPID DEVELOPMENT
A chieftain of the APC and chairman of the Emerging Political Platform in Ondo State, Prince Poroye Biyi Bill, has commended the efforts of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for his outstanding roles and total commitment to reposition the Niger Delta region for rapid development.
Prince Poroye gave this commendation to the Minister in Akure while addressing newsmen. In his statement, he acknowledged the total commitment and focus of the Minister in completing an over 25 years abandoned building project of the NDDC new secretariat headquarters within the space of one and half year.
“With the completion of the NDDC new secretariat project, Senator Akpabio has proved to the whole world what is capable of doing. He has shown to the world the capability and professionalism he’s generally acknowledged to possess”.
Prince Poroye while speaking with Coastal Renaissance, pleaded with the Minister to give a specific directions to the contractors who had collected mobilisation from the NDDC but absconded, to relocate to their respective sites for the completion of the work with immediate effect. He further urged the Minister to be more proactive with a spirit of unrelenting efforts in ensuring that all the abandoned projects in the Niger Delta region are completed within a specific and limited period of time.
Prince Poroye expressed his worry over the inexhaustible list of abandoned projects especially in Ondo State and charged the Minister to put up an emergency Technical Monitoring Committee who will be saddled with the responsibility of monitoring all the abandoned and just awarded contracts of the NDDC and Ministry of Niger Delta to ensure that all the abandoned and new projects are completed including that of Aiyetoro Seashore in Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio said that the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has shown focus and determination by completing its 13-floor new headquarters secretariat at the Marine base in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Senator Akpabio, who was addressing newsmen alongside the NDDC Interim Administrator, Mr. Efiong Akwa, at the newly completed headquarters, said that the new complex was a testimony to the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari was determined to reposition the NDDC for the rapid development of the Niger Delta region.
He declared: “It gladdens my heart to see the physical manifestation of the completion of this project. It shows that, indeed, Nigeria can change with determination and focus. I have seen it here in the NDDC.”
Akpabio said it was important to showcase the beautiful edifice of the NDDC headquarters that will be commissioned today, Thursday 11th March, 2021 by the President.
He observed that the previous administrations that neglected the project may have had their reasons but it was important to note that a leadership with focus and determination will always make a difference.
