The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, has described the APC Chairman in Ondo State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin as a true progressive and master strategist, who has dominated the politics of Ondo State in the past four years.
The Governor stated this recently at the occasion of his second term inauguration.
Engr. Ade Adetimehin is one unique Nigerian personality with imposing features, strides and achievements. A politician, businessman and leader of thought, he has carefully handled the affairs of the APC in Ondo State in the past 4 years risen to become the ‘superhero of Ondo State Politics’ – the first Party Chairman who produced two terms Governor in Ondo State.
Governor Akeredolu while acknowledging personalities at the inauguration of his second term in office, he named Engr. Adetimehin as ‘the Superhero of Ondo State politics’.
Adetimehin can be rated as one of the most loyal, committed and hardworking APC Chairmen in Nigeria in the past 4 years. One interesting thing about the man ‘Adetimehin’, is the fact that there are varied perceptions about him, while some people said he’s too loyal to the Governor, some said he’s too soft for their likings and the others would say, he’s too smart.
In this article, Coastal Renaissance has explore few reasons why the Governor described him (Adetimehin) as the superhero of Ondo State politics.
1. His Antecedents.
Engr. Ade Adetimehin has been a dogged, focused and committed politician, who stood to conquer. He started from AC to ACN to APC, he never gave up. He was consistent and persistent to the course of the progressives, insisted that Ondo State needed a true and participatory democracy which we are witnessing today.
No doubt, his active role as one of the strong opposition leaders to the PDP Government in the state then, was noticeable and admirable. Despite the thick and thin, he refused to collapse his political structure, to join the ruling party then the Peoples Democratic Party.
2. His strategic Political approach of bring Akeredolu on board to defeat Segun Abraham at the APC Governorship Primary in 2016 brought him to limelight. There is nothing as interesting as achieving your dream, today, Engr. Adetimehin-led party structure in the state has broken the jinx, by becoming the first party chairman that would produce two terms Governor in the state so far.
In another related development, a chieftain of the APC and Chairman of Emerging Political Platform (EPP) in Ondo State, Prince Poroye Biyi Bill, appreciated the APC Chairman for his unrelenting efforts and fatherly roles to unite the party in Ondo State.
Prince Poroye stated this recently in a courtesy visit to the State Chairman of the APC in his house in Akure by some selected leaders of the EPP across the state.
According to Poroye, “Indeed, Ondo State political history would be incomplete and lack a fundamental lacuna if I refuse to acknowledge or mention the outstanding achievement of Engr. Adetimehin as the first and only State Chairman who has produced two terms Governor in Ondo State so far.
While reacting, Engr. Adetimehin referenced the fact that a lot of people and groups worked for the success of the party but specially appreciated the unbeatable performance and commitment of the EPP members. Also, he commended the efforts of Prince Poroye who brought about 98% of non-APC members to the party across the state. He further maintained that the crowd he received in his house in a courtesy visit of the EPP selected leaders, was first of its kind.
“Sincerely speaking, I have never addressed this kind of crowd in my house since I became the Chairman of the APC. It is better I address you on your feet because the chairs in my house cannot occupy all of you. And by so doing, you people have made an history in my life as the first people who would pay a courtesy visit without enough chairs to sit. This implies how organized and formidable you are”. Adetimehin said.
He maintained that as he would not encourage groups in the party as a state Chairman of the APC and that everybody should come together. He however charged Poroye to report directly to his office should in case any leader across the ward attempts to marginalize his people.
Engr. Adetimehin finally promised to do his best and ensure what is due for Poroye-led members are given to them and that, they have nothing to worry about.
“Prince Biyi Poroye (PBP) is a very courageous, consistent, brilliant and focused politician. I do not know any politician without political positions who can successfully mobilise this crowd and command respects among the people of Ondo state today. In 2016, you contributed a lot to the success of APC/Aketi election without any reward but this time around that you have fully joined the party, I will ensure you get what rightly belong to you and your members across the state”.
