Internal Restructuring: My intention is to reposition for greater heights, not to witch-hunt anybody, Ondo Sports Commissioner, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye tells Sunshine Queens Officials
Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Saka Yusuf- Ogunleye has allayed the fears of officials of Sunshine Queens that he has not come to witch-hunt anybody, but rather to reposition the team for better performance.
He said: “If Sunshine Queens had not relegated, I won’t be here running up and down, however, since it has happened, we have to devise a proactive measure to return the club to the elite league.”
The Commissioner stated this while presenting newly appointed officials of Sunshine Queens to the management of Ondo State Development Football Agency and players of the club.
He added that football loving people of the state are not happy that Sunshine Queens relegated twice consecutively, saying the management is ready to reposition the team and make sure the team is returned to their rightful place in the comity of teams in the country.
Recalled, that the commissioner had earlier appointed Rafiu Oseni as Head Coach of the 2015 Women’s Federation Cup winners, while the former assistant coach , Adenike Ayeni was made the team manager and Odunayo Adejoro announced as Assistant Head Coach, former Welfare Officer, Rose Obamuyi, now Team Secretary and former Camp Commandant, Olakitan Oladele upgraded to the office of Kit Manager and former Kit Manager, Vivian Emmanuel redeployed as Camp Commandant.
He charged the new technical crew to immediately swing into action by working with the team manager and others to make the team a formidable side.
“You have all learnt your lessons, we fell and all hands must on deck to ensure that we rise again.”

He said: “I have heard a lot of good things about you, the new head coach, more than four people recommended you, I heard that you are disciplined and result oriented ,but you need to prove yourself by working assiduously to lift the team with your coaching crew.”
“Make sure you bring the team together as one big family, don’t be distracted and don’t allow anything to rubbish the good name you have built over the years.
The captain of the team, Suliyat Ajibade apologized on behalf of the players, saying they were not happy with how the team ended the season.
“We tried our best, only that our best was not enough to lift the team above red zone”.

Ondo state Commissioner, Youth and Sports Development, Hon Saka Yusuf Ogunleye has been Commended for his recent restructuring moves in both Sunshine stars and Sunshine Queens , Describing it as long over due and timely .
Chairman, Sunshine stars Fc Supporters club, Mr Adeboboye Babatunde in a chat with journalists shortly after meeting with the Hon Sports Commissioner and management staff of the Ondo state football agency said concerted efforts to safe Sunshine stars from relegation remains a top priority.
He thanked the sports commissioner for taking bold steps in a bid to achieve great results that will put smiles on the faces of numerous football fans in the state .
” We are satisfied with the recent moves by the Hon Sports Commissioner, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye to salvage our darling team , Sunshine stars , the position the team is on the log is not a good one and we can’t wait until things get worse before we meet him to chart a way that will give us the desired results”
Adeboboye Babatunde said the supporters club as one of the major football Stakeholders in the team were disappointed in Sunshine Queens Relegation consecutively but believe the team will bounce back with the support of all .
He urged the commissioner not to be distracted by anyone or group of persons but to remain focus and give his best in the interest of Ondo state people .
“Of course we had fruitful deliberations with the commissioner, our areas of displeasure were tabled before him and he immediately addressed it and we believe with God in his side and the collective efforts of every other stakeholder he will succeed , it’s indeed a new Dawn ”
Saka Yusuf Ogunleye in a brief chat with journalists described the supporters club of Sunshine stars and Sunshine Queens as a major stakeholder that can never be ignored in the scheme of things .
He thanked them for their dedication and passion so far urging them not to relent in their support .
” The supporters club has responsible and reliable eminent sons and daughters of Ondo state as members who are passionate about everything Sunshine , we won’t fail them by the grace of God ”
On some redeployed officials of Sunshine stars Fc spreading false information in some quarters , Saka Yusuf described the move as corruption trying to fight back .
” I’m a servant and I will serve well in the interest of Ondo state people , the development of sports , Priority of athletes and their welfare is what matters to Mr Governor , I am not worried ot disturbed, you should expect it, It wont stand the test of time “
