RE- OSOPADEC HEAD OFFICE UNDER LOCK AND KEY OVER CHAIRMAN’S HIGH-HANDEDNESS, AUTOCRACY, STAFF WITCH-HUNT AND GROSS ABUSE OF OFFICE AS ALLEGED BY STAFF UNION: A REBUTTAL AND STERN WARNING TO POLITICIANS AND FIFTH COLUMNIST
Our attention has been drawn to an online post emanating from the Savannah News, reporting that the gate of the Head Office of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) was put under lock and key by the staff Union over its “Chairman, Sam Erejuwa’s high-handedness, autocracy and staff witch-hunt.”
The publication further stated that the Chairman of the Staff Union, Comrade Sola Ademuwagun accused the Commission’s Chairman, Elder Sam Erejuwa of corruption and gross abuse of office.
For the records, a peaceful industrial action was staged at the Commissions gate today May 21, 2024 to express our grievances and press home our demands as staff of the commission. However, the issues surrounding our grievances were basically bureaucratic matters which specifically affect the welfare and career progression of our members and not politically motivated as being purported and misinformed.
The action was not a direct confrontation with the Chairman, Sam Erejuwa, a political appointee who is not only worker’s friendly but also approachable. Rather, explanations and clarifications on some official matters were demanded from the management.
At no point was the Chairman of the Commission accused of what was reported in the media. This rejoinder therefore becomes necessary to correct the misinformation making the rounds, and to set the record straight.
While we wish to dissociate ourselves from the Facebook post and online publication, we equally want to warn anyone with vested interest or fifth columnist(s) to keep off from the activities of the Staff Union.
Agitations of the labour Unions and confrontation with the management in a corporate organization is not something unusual. Our matter in OSOPADEC should therefore not be blown beyond proportion of given a political undertone.
